About Me
Lourdes Janet Camacho
Licensed Professional Counselor
Welcome! My name is Lourdes Janet Camacho, but you can just call me Janet! I have been a practicing therapist since 2015. My areas of expertise includes anxiety, depression and trauma affecting women. In addition to my direct clinical work, I serve as a Clinic Supervisor at the University of Denver, and as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.
I am a bilingual, first generation Latinx woman. I am a mother, a wife, dog mom to a Chihuahua and German Shepherd, self-proclaimed designer of spaces, and plant lover. I did not grow up with conversations about mental health. My passion for mental health began with an introductory psychology class in college. In many ways, my educational journey was also a personal one, an effort to better understand myself and others. Through my own therapeutic work, I gained insight, developed self-compassion, and experienced a shift within that helped me maintain healthy relationships.
I provide specialized support and care to women, a population that I feel particularly called to serve. I provide therapy for complex attachment wounds. My goal is to empower women to reclaim their sense of self through increasing insight into their distressing symptoms, increasing a felt-sense of connection and protection, and eventually attachment based processing to eliminate/reduce the intensity of symptom presentation.
My niche was influenced by women I love who have been affected by wounds in attachment, grief, domestic violence, sexual abuse, relational issues, and other significant trauma. I practice in their honor, and I am committed to creating a safe place for women to heal.
My educational background and previous clinical experiences with family systems informs my approach to treatment. I consider the impact of attachment, family roles, and generational trauma in shaping the whole person. This perspective allows me to explore the origins of presenting issues and further examining the internal “blueprints” that influence how you experience relationships within yourself and others.
I am a EMDR certified Therapist which means that in my practice, I facilitate healing through EMDR which is often times complimented with Internal Family Systems, Attachment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I use these modalities tailored to your individual presenting concerns.
If you are looking to heal from situations that occurred in the past that impacts your current functioning, you are in the right place!
For clinicians who may feel stuck with the complexities that originate from early relational wounds, I am hear to help conceptualize your case.

Spaces are important to me and after practicing in various settings including people's homes, outpatient offices, and schools, I now practice in a space that I designed and furnished to meet my client's needs. I practice out of my home office located near the Bison Ridge Recreation Center in Commerce City, CO. The home office is a thoughtfully put together space that provides all of the necessary elements needed for a therapy practice. I also meet people via telehealth from the comfort of where they need to be in order to make therapy work for them.
